Before you begin
You need Google Chrome and the Afey Tabs release ZIP from the project's GitHub Releases page. This package is installed as an unpacked extension rather than through the Chrome Web Store.
Installation steps
- Open the Download page and choose the ZIP download or GitHub Releases.
- Extract the downloaded ZIP file to a folder on your computer.
- In Chrome, open chrome://extensions.
- Enable Developer mode using the toggle on the extensions page.
- Select Load unpacked.
- Choose the extracted Afey Tabs folder containing manifest.json.
- Open the extension from Chrome's toolbar. The first-open guide introduces the basic workflow.
Save your first workspace
- Choose Save current workspace.
- Select one or more eligible web tabs.
- Give the workspace a name and optionally add a note.
- Save the selected tabs, then use Restore later to reopen them.
Troubleshooting
The extension does not appear
Confirm that you selected the folder containing manifest.json, not the ZIP file itself or its parent folder. If Chrome shows an error, read the message on chrome://extensions.
A browser page is missing from the tab picker
Afey Tabs excludes browser-internal pages and non-HTTP/HTTPS URLs. Only eligible web tabs in the current window can be saved.
Can I install it from the Chrome Web Store?
This release's documented installation method is Load unpacked. Do not assume Chrome Web Store availability unless the project publishes a store listing.
